The CT Ambassadors are on the hunt for seafood destinations in the state. Here's a list from the fanatic foodies at CTEatsOut.com.
When you live in Connecticut, summer and seafood shacks go hand in hand. A day at one of the many state beaches can come to the perfect end with a stop for a hot, buttered, Connecticut style lobster roll, a fried seafood platter and an ice cream cone. Here are a handful of my favorite Connecticut seafood shacks.

New England seafood is famous worldwide. And there's no better place to enjoy it on a hot summer day than by stopping at one of Connecticut's many seashore clam shacks. All along the shoreline, you'll find local spots that offer the freshest in seafood favorites. From buttery lobster rolls (we invented them!) to fried shrimp, freshly caught oysters and creamy clam chowder, these classic seafood shacks in Connecticut are worth a visit.

If Connecticut ever had to name an Official State Food, it would probably be a close call between pizza and lobster. Of course, lobster has been on the menu here a lot longer, dating back to the days before the European settlers arrived. And today it’s available everywhere, served in all sorts of ways and always hard to say no to. Here’s a quick look at some of the best purveyors.

Albert Turner walked the entire Connecticut shoreline in 1914. His mission, as the first State Parks employee, was to identify Connecticut’s best spots for coastal recreation. You probably don’t have time to hunt that hard for beach-day bliss. So, this guide to saltwater adventures on Long Island Sound will help you choose the sandy expanse that’s right for you.
Featuring: Black Duck Cafe | Book Barn | Captain Scott's Lobster Dock | Chamard Vineyards | Connecticut Children's Museum | Downeast Lighthouse Cruises | Fort Trumbull State Park | Gilbertie's Herb Gardens | Gumdrops & Lollipops Candy Shoppe | Hammonasset Beach State Park | Harvey's Beach | Henry Whitfield State Museum | Jacob's Beach | Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center | Lenny & Joe's Fish Tale Restaurant (Madison) | Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts | Meigs Point Nature Center | Ocean Beach Park | Rocky Glen State Park | Rolnick Observatory | Sherwood Island State Park | Shoreline Segway | Spa at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina | The Sculpture Mile
If you’ve got a notion to bring your pet along with you during your travels in Connecticut, you won’t have a problem finding a place to stay overnight or even dine out. The number of pet-friendly hotels, B&Bs and restaurants has exploded in recent years, giving travelers many options as they explore the four corners of the state.
Featuring: Burger Bar & Bistro | Captain Scott's Lobster Dock | Flipside Burgers & Bar | Harbour Inne & Cottage | Interlaken Inn, Resort & Conference Center | Saybrook Point Resort & Marina | Strawberry Park Resort | Wentworth Homemade Ice Cream Company
As we all know, summer doesn’t officially end until September 22, which means there’s still time to do some of the things you never got around to before Labor Day. And what’s not to love about the September version of summer in Connecticut? The crowds are down, the weather and water are both still warm, prices are sometimes reduced…heck, it might be the nicest summer month of all.

One thing that's great about Connecticut's compact, manageable size is that you're never far from a great roadside meal, especially in summer. In fact, there are so many good ones that we couldn't stop at five or 10 or even 15 - our list of 20 doesn't even cover the entire scene, of course, but it's a good place to start. Here they are, in brief and in alphabetical order. Can you get to them all?
Featuring: Abbott's Lobster in the Rough | Blackie's Hot Dogs | Captain Scott's Lobster Dock | City of Bristol | Clam Castle | Glenwood Drive-In | Guida's Drive-in Restaurant | Harry's Place | Sea Swirl of Mystic | Stowe's Seafood | Town of Bethel | Town of Fairfield | Town of Guilford | Town of New Milford | Town of Old Saybrook | Town of Southbury | Town of Southington | Town of Stratford
