Revolutionary Connecticut
There are many ways to explore the Revolutionary War in Connecticut, which was nicknamed The Provision State by Gen. George Washington for its ability to supply the war effort with food, munitions and manufactured goods. Here are some highlights:

Walkable Town Centers
Sometimes it’s nice just to get out of the car or off the train and walk. Connecticut has many town centers where a nice ramble takes you to shops, restaurants, galleries, museums, and even a park bench or two. Here are some of the best ones to consider:

5 Saltwater Hikes
Most of Connecticut’s popular hiking trails are in the upstate hills and woods, but there are some very good ones right on the shoreline that bring saltwater views and the smell of the sea. They have the added benefits of being fairly level (in some cases, a little more like walking than hiking) and within easy access of I-95, U.S. Route 1 and even rail lines. Here are five, moving from east to west, that make a great way to spend a nice morning or afternoon.

Antiques Outings
One of Connecticut’s great treats is taking in the treasures of our antiques shops. It is likely that nearly every one of the state’s 169 towns has at least one antiques shop in its midst, and you are most welcome to poke along at your own pace and find them all. In the interest of time, however, we have a few highlights to tell you about.

All Set for Sunset
One of summer’s great rituals in Connecticut is finding the perfect place to salute the day and watch the sun go down. Whether this is experienced as a group, a couple or solo, you will find many places in the state that are spectacularly well suited – sometimes it’ll be over water, sometimes over hills and sometimes a combination of both. Here are a few locations to get you started. Get out to toast the day just passed and the night to come!
