Comfort Foods and Where to Find Them

Meet the CT Ambassadors! CTvisit.com is proud to partner with some of the region's most popular bloggers for ideas, insights and inspiration from the people who are lucky enough to call Connecticut home, like Kevin Masse, @kemasse, who wrote this article.

Let’s face it, sometimes we just want food that makes us feel good. Food that provides sustenance and warmth and fuels us to keep going when the days are short and cold. Whether it’s pizza, meatloaf, chicken and waffles, or stuffed baked potatoes, what each of us calls ‘comfort food’ might be different, but they share a commonality, in that they literally comfort us when we need it most.

I spend a lot of time dining out, and I’ve got a short list of spots I like to visit when my craving for comfort food strikes. Some will be familiar, others maybe less so, but each brings their A game and delivers some of the best ‘comfort food’ in the area.

Babymoon

Oh Baby - Great Connecticut Hotels for a “Babymoon”

Whether this is your first child or your fifth, you know that once baby comes home, that “alone time” for parents is almost non-existent for a while. Preparing for delivery, or even going through the adoption process, can be so stressful on a relationship. Babymoons were invented for just that reason. Like honeymoons, they are a chance for the couple to relax, reconnect and even rekindle romance. But if you aren’t up for a long flight to an exotic destination, consider one of these Connecticut destinations for a weekend or midweek escape with a little pampering before baby arrives. Ask about “Babymoon” packages that may include experiences like dinner for two, spa treatments and other special treats!
