The Connecticut craft brew industry is booming. Small start-ups are gaining traction with fans and current establishments are expanding their lineups—and their tasting spaces. Even brewers who’ve been around awhile are putting out new and inviting releases. Some offer food, and many are family- and dog-friendly as well. We asked a few craft beer fans what breweries were particularly worthy of checking out right now.

The best parts of fall are simply unavailable in the city; no hills rolling with color, no apple orchards or pumpkin patches, and certainly no historic cider mills. Luckily, Connecticut has all of these and more, and it’s just a brief drive away. This short list is packed with everything from pumpkin picking to hot cider and corn mazes.

From playful interior design to tasting decks with a view, breweries large and small are letting their personality show through. Nothing makes the holidays feel more like the holidays than cutting down your own Christmas tree! Throughout November and December, many Connecticut farms also offer additional activities to make the experience even more memorable — from wagon rides to the fields and tree-trimming shops to hot chocolate and visits from Santa’s helpers. So dress warm, bring your kids and your dog (on a leash, of course) and visit a few of these Connecticut Christmas tree farms.

One of the things we love most about summertime in Connecticut is that long, purple, very pleasant period at the end of the day. The busy affairs of the daytime have come to an end, the midday heat is easing at last and it’s time for refreshment, maybe even a picnic, and a relaxing couple of hours as night so very gradually descends. Here are some good ways to spend your summer evening hours in Connecticut.
